Delete your Inqui account

Last updated 11 October 2026

This page applies to the Inqui mobile app (Google Play and App Store) and the inqui.ai service, published by Michal Macinka (sole trader (OSVČ), IČO 11824492). You can delete your account and all personal data yourself, at any time, without contacting us. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

1. Delete your account in the app (recommended)

  1. Open the Inqui app and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile → Settings and scroll down to the Account section.
  3. Tap Delete account (the last item in that section).
  4. Read the warning and confirm with Delete account. The app signs you out and your account and data are erased on the spot.

There is no waiting period and no e-mail to confirm. Nothing from the deleted account can be restored afterwards. If you change your mind later, you can create a new account in the app (or ask your school or institution for one, if it gave you your previous account) — it starts empty.

2. Request deletion without the app

If you no longer have the app installed, or cannot sign in, e-mail [email protected] with the subject “Delete my Inqui account”, from the e-mail address you registered with. To protect you from someone else deleting your account, we may ask you to confirm the request by replying from that address or to provide a piece of information only the account holder knows. We carry out the deletion within 30 days of a confirmed request and send you a short confirmation once it is done. Requests are handled by the person responsible for the service; no third party sees them.

Accounts created by a school or institution: if your institution gave you your account, it decides about the learning records it controls. You can still ask us directly — we will delete what is ours to delete and pass the rest of the request on to your institution, and tell you that we did.

3. What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently erases, in one step:

  • your account (e-mail address, name, password hash, profile and language settings);
  • all your conversations with the AI, including every turn, transcript, stored voice recording and AI feedback;
  • the conversation memory — the notes Inqui keeps between conversations about your interests, the things you find tricky and the topics you have practised;
  • questionnaire answers and scores, and any research consent records;
  • saved vocabulary, word lists, your review schedule and word-exposure history;
  • points, badges, streaks, proficiency and CEFR estimates, course and study enrolments;
  • usage analytics events, your mistakes overview and practice drills, notifications, reminder settings and push-notification device tokens;
  • diagnostic logs uploaded from your devices, including anonymous logs from the same devices.

Live data is removed immediately. Copies in our nightly database backups expire automatically within about 15 days (each nightly backup is deleted after 14 days); we never restore a backup to bring deleted data back. No copy of your conversations or answers is kept for research: if you took part in a study, your research records are deleted along with the account, as promised in the study information.

4. What is kept, and for how long

  • Technical server logs (request metadata such as IP address, timestamp, endpoint) — only as long as needed for security and fault diagnosis, purged on a rolling basis.
  • Crash reports sent to Firebase Crashlytics — they carry a device identifier, not your account, and are kept for Google’s standard 90 days.
  • Technical metrics about AI calls (model, token counts, latency, success) — the link to your account is removed at deletion; these records never contain conversation content.
  • E-mails you sent us (support or privacy requests) — as long as needed to handle the request and to show we did, then deleted.

Nothing else is retained. The full retention table, our legal bases and your other rights are in the Privacy Policy.

5. Deleting some data without deleting your account

  • Conversation memory — under Settings → What Inqui remembers about me delete the notes for one language (“Forget this language”) or all of them (“Forget everything”), or switch the memory off, which deletes the notes and stops new ones.
  • Voice recordings — switch off saving recordings under Settings → Privacy. This deletes the recordings kept to improve the service and stops new ones being stored. Recordings made for a research study follow the study’s rules (see below).
  • Saved words — remove them yourself in the app, one word at a time, under Vocabulary → My words.
  • Research participation — you can withdraw from a study at any time; write to [email protected] and your research records are deleted while your learning account stays.
  • Anything else (for example a single conversation) — e-mail [email protected] and say what you want removed; we handle it within 30 days.

6. Demo and review accounts

The shared demo account used for app-store review is not a personal account and cannot be deleted. If you were given demo credentials to try the app, nothing you do in that account is linked to you.
